Dental, oral and maxillary surgical interventions especially orthognathic surgery have aesthetic purposes. For years, our focus has been on more invasive procedures to achieve dramatic facial change. Today many minimally invasive techniques are available to make one’s facial appearance more pleasing. As with any aesthetic surgery and other reconstructive procedures involving the facial region, dentist must take an interest in providing a more comprehensive approach to treating the patient’s overall dental and facial aesthetics. In this lecture, we will discuss some of the common analyses and procedures in facial and dental aesthetics that can be done in dental practices.
