Topic 2 : Phase II Therapy : Adult Orthodontics -Is Your Approach Working For You?
Synopsis :
Orthodontic technology seems to move very rapidly as new trends begin to wipe out the basic principles and philosophies of orthodontics - new materials start to replace the old ones and new techniques slowly mask the conventional. Whether the technique is old or new, the primary goal of every orthodontic therapy is to achieve the three most important criteria of a completed and successful orthodontic case. These criteria include maintenance and restorations of functions, improving aesthetics as well as phonetics. The objective of this presentation is to promote awareness on the importance of early diagnosis, the correct interpretation of patient’s record, as well as proper selection of cases for treatment. Latest trends in orthodontics will be highlighted and comparison will be made. A look back on the different appliances for young and adult cases will be briefly discussed and a selected pre- and post-orthodontic treatment of both old and new will be presented.
