Speaker Profile

Professor Khoo Suan Phaik is a Professor of Oral Pathology & Oral Medicine at the School of Dentistry, International Medical University (IMU) and is also the Associate Dean since 2012. She obtained her Masters in the field of Oral Pathology in the UK, Fellowship (in Oral Medicine) of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and PhD from the National University of Singapore. She also heads the university’s Community Engagement. She was the Past President of the International Association of Dental Research of the Malaysian Section (IADR). She has published widely and is an invited speaker in various local and international conferences.  Her research interest lies in orofacial pain and oral inflammatory conditions.

Diagnosing oral lesions and conditions in the dental practice can be challenging for the dental practitioner. The differential diagnosis of oral ulcers, nodules and pigmented/coloured lesions will be discussed together with what the dental practitioner can do about it in the dental office.
