Speaker Profile

Dr Norhani Abd Rani is senior consultant Periodontist and National Head of Periodontics Specialty in Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). She is also member of Academy of Medicine Malaysia and Malaysian Society of Periodontology. She obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from University of Tanta, Egypt and pursued specialist study in Periodontology from University of London. Dr. Norhani first joined Ministry of Health since 1984 as dental officer. Currently, she is periodontics specialist at Klinik Pergigian Cahaya Suria, Kuala Lumpur. During her service in MOH, she held and holding several administrative and academic duties as state head of specialty, clinical supervisor, committee for Gazettement of Dental Specialist and external examiner. She h as been awarded Excellent Service Award in 2001 and 2008. She is also active as invited speaker and guest for international conferences and local mass media prorgammes.

Topic : The Gingival Situation for Aesthetic Attainment

Abstract :

The best aesthetic outcome requires both the white and pink aesthetic aspects to be addressed. A healthy periodontal tissue, especially the gingiva, is regarded as the frame to the beauty of the teeth and the required restorations. The position of the gingiva could be a concern due to either developmental reasons or periodontal diseases and conditions. Corrections of the different gingival situations could be performed to achieve a balanced harmonious position for health and aesthetics
