Abstract

Modern dental restorative materials, combined with enhanced clinical techniques, can provide highly aesthetic and high strength restorations for both anterior and posterior teeth. Short fibre reinforced composites (SFRC) provide an extremely high strength direct restorative material which can greatly enhance the options available for strengthening weakened and endodontically treated teeth. Coupled with the highly aesthetic and high strength injectable composites, they can be utilised in both direct and indirect restorations and enhance the outcomes from both functional and aesthetic aspects. This presentation will review a range of restorative materials and techniques and through a series of clinical cases demonstrate how these materials can be utilised successfully in daily clinical practice.

Topics to be discussed:

  • Restorative materials selection and their use in complex restorative cases
  • Options for restorative management of weakened and endodontically treated teeth
  • Internal reinforcement and improving the core strength and structural integrity of teeth with Short Fibre Reinforced Composites
  • Optimising adhesion and maximising restorative bonding
  • Simplifying restorations to obtain predictable outcomes
  • Clinical cases demonstrating both direct and indirect procedures
