Dr. Nur Hafizah Kamar Affendi

Dr. Nur Hafizah earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2008. She completed three years of advanced training in Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry at New York University (NYU), United States, earning Fellowship and Diplomate status from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), USA, in 2016.

Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer and Prosthodontist at the Centre of Prosthodontics, Universiti Teknologi MARA, and a visiting Prosthodontist at Artius Dental Specialist Centre, where she provides care for patients with complex dental needs.

The success of implant treatment relies not only on osseointegration but also on the long-term survival of the prosthesis. Factors such as implant position and prosthesis fabrication are influenced by a wide range of abutment type, materials and crown designs which can complicate decision-making. This presentation will discuss the available options for fabricating implant restorations using CAD/CAM technology, their clinical impact, and the emerging trends in the dental industry. Additionally, it will address current choices and evaluate whether we have sufficient evidence for new materials and designs, while highlighting the clinical challenges involved in producing both simple and complex implant restorations.
