Speaker Profile
| Speaker | Dr. Win Nguyen |
| Short Biodata | Dr. Win Nguyen was uprooted at the age of 8 when his parents fled communism and rebuilt their lives in Belgium. He later repeated this courageous leap by moving to Cleveland, Ohio to pursue specialized training in endodontics. His life journey demonstrates that he has never been afraid of hard work, change, or adversity. His adaptability consistently exceeds expectations. Coming from a background as a political refugee and immigrant, Dr. Nguyen learned early that knowledge always prevails. His personal philosophy is anchored in a quote he strives to uphold every day: “Defeat is never fatal. Victory is never final. It's courage that counts.” With seven years of experience as a full-time educator and over seventeen years as a successful business owner and endodontist, Dr. Nguyen has never stopped pursuing growth. Despite holding a Master’s degree in Dental Sciences, he has reached a stage in his career where he continues to seek deeper understanding—placing more “why’s” behind the “how’s,” and more science behind the “why’s.” Highly self-motivated and driven by above-average energy, Dr. Nguyen consistently accomplishes what many would consider difficult or impossible. Now at the age of 53, he is only months away from earning a Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) degree from Boston University. For Dr. Nguyen, knowledge breeds strength and independence and strength and independence ultimately lead to freedom. |
| Lecture | Lecture 13 : 2026 Making Endodontics Shine Again: Where Skills Meet Technology |
| Date & Time | Lecture 13 : 29 April 2026, 4:40 pm – 5:30 pm |
| Abstract | Endodontics and its associated science “endodontology” were once synonymous with tooth saving. Over the years, with the continuously accelerating advent of technology, the Art of Saving Teeth progressively lost its gloss and evolved into a technology-dominated field where students are taught the “art of pushing buttons.” It goes without denying that technology is an “incontournable” as its role in medicine has stood the test of time. What is open for debate, however, is how much technology is optimal and how much is too much. In this presentation, Dr. Nguyen will discuss the judicious balance of skills and technology and how both intertwine with each other to make saving teeth both art and science. Dr. Nguyen will illustrate the subject at hand with a combination of the latest research along with complex cases where skills and concurrent use of CBCT technology, laser and the Dental Operating Microscope played a central role in bringing hostaged “natural implants” home. As once said by the wise among the wise “excellence represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny.” |
